What is CEO Action?
The CEO Act!on for Diversity & Inclusion aims to rally the business community to advance D&I within the workplace by working collectively across organizations and sectors.
It outlines a specific set of actions that the undersigned companies will take to cultivate a trusting environment where all ideas are welcomed and employees feel comfortable and empowered to discuss diversity and inclusion.
The Day of Understanding is a demonstration of our commitment and solidarity. Under the CEO Action plan, over 500 companies are asked to host coordinated talks about workplace diversity and inclusion.
We’re doing this to elevate the dialogue so that together, we can become more inclusive leaders and ambassadors for diversity – on our campus, on teams and in our communities.

CEO Act!on Take the Pledge
As part of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion Chancellor Green signed the CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion, one of 87 higher education institutions across the country and one of only three organizations in Nebraska, along with the senior leaders at Mutual of Omaha and Union Pacific in Nebraska.
On March 11th, as a part of CASNR Week, a two-hour event from 11:00am -1:00pm will be held at the Animal Science Commons Area encouraging faculty, staff and students to come together to digitally sign the pledge, receive a commemorative pledge card and take a photo with Chancellor Green between 11:00 and 11:30am. Attendees are encouraged to share their photo online using #UNLCeoAction to highlight their commitment to diversity and inclusion while promoting inclusive excellence.
The I Act On pledge is a personal pledge that any individual can take to help drive inclusive behavior in their everyday life. We invite you to take action in support of making our workplaces and community more inclusive.
The Pledge: I pledge to check my bias, speak up for others and show up for all.
I will check my own biases and take meaningful action to understand and mitigate them.
I will initiate meaningful, complex, and sometimes difficult, conversations with my friends and colleagues.
I will ask myself, “Do my actions and words reflect the value of inclusion?”
I will move outside my comfort zone to learn about the experiences and perspectives of others.
I will share my insights related to what I have learned.
