Karen Kassebaum serves as the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Inclusive Leadership and Learning. Serving as a leader of diversity education for institution-wide learning and engagement, Kassebaum develops and coordinates efforts for institutional-wide diversity education while also developing resources for diverse staff talent searches, onboarding, retention and success.
Kassebaum has served in roles that have included the Director of Staff Diversity and Inclusion for Human Resources and the Director of Student Recruitment for the College of Education and Human Sciences. Kassebaum’s diversity and inclusion viewpoints are fueled by research and lived experiences. She serves as a lecturer for the College of Education and Human Sciences, teaching 400-800 level courses around diversity and inclusion and civil discourse.
Kassebaum is the founder and CEO of Athlete2Athlete, an organization that provides transitional mentoring and leadership development for student athletes. Kassebaum is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated and the Omaha Chapter of The LINKs, Incorporated.
An active member of her community, Kassebaum is a recipient of the Chancellor’s Fulfilling the Dream Award and a proud alum of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, receiving her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership & Higher Education.
